Flexion:

The definition of flexion is when you decrease the angle between two bones.

When the angle between the two bones decrease, that means that the two bones are now closer together.

The two bones will be in a bending position.

The bicep curl is a perfect example of flexion. As you curl the dumbell up, you are bending your elbow which will change the angle between your forearm to your biceps.

This video is an example of a bicep curl in motion. Keep in mind how the angle between the the forearm and bicep decrease as he is curling.

Extension:

The definition of extension is when you increase the angle between two bones.

When the angle between the two bones is increasing, that means that the two  bones are not as close to each other as they would be.

This is a tricep pull down. This exercise involves extension. You begin by holding the bar wiht your forearm and biceps in flexion state, then pull down. This will make your entire arm straight. The angle between the bicep and forearm is not as close as it was during the flexion state.

This video is an example of a tricep pull down in motion. Keep in mind when the person in the video is performing the exercise. His arms become fully straight which means there is a increased angle between the forearm and bicep.
