Abduction and Adduction
Abduction and Adduction are pretty similar in terms of definition. The midline is defined as the middle of the body.
Abduction: Is when you move away from midline
Adduction: Is when you move towards the midline

This is a great video explaining the difference between abduction and adduction. If you are having trouble identifying which one is which, then this video will explain what it is to move away, or towards the midline.

An example of both abduction and adduction are jumping jacks. As you begin the exercise, you will be abducting both your arms and legs away from the midline of your body. As you complete the repition you will adduct both your legs and arms into the starting position.
The picture on the left demonstrates how the exercise is to be performed.
1) Both your arms and legs are adducted, or close to the midline.
2) Both your arms and legs are abducted, or away from the midline.
